NOEEN’s Vision for the EARly Childhood Workforce
Early childhood educators have one of the most important jobs in our society – nurturing young children and supporting their development. NOEEN envisions a Professional, Well-Compensated, and Sustainable Educator Workforce, where early learning teachers are respected, able to build savings, access career ladders, and stay in the field of early education.
NOEEN is here to support you in this critical work. We have put together resources to help you understand and navigate the requirements of being part of the New Orleans Early Education Network and to learn about opportunities to advance your career within the profession.
NEw Orleans Early Educator Wage Enhancement Program
In 2022, the City of New Orleans Mayor’s Office of Youth and Families committed $2.4M to pilot a program designed to improve the retention and recruitment of early childhood educators across the city by providing wage enhancements in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 program years. After the success of that initial investment, which was also supported by state funds, this program was embedded within the New Orleans Early Childhood Education Millage budget.
